What is FDC?

Flare Data Connector (FDC) brings reliable, secure, and verified data from other blockchains and the internet to power smart contracts on Flare.

How it works

The FDC verifies user-submitted attestation requests. Verified responses are organized into a Merkle tree, with only the Merkle root stored on-chain.

Users retrieve attestation responses and Merkle proofs from data providers and submit them to smart contracts.

Use cases

FAssets

FAssets allows non smart contract tokens like BTC, DOGE and XRP to be used with smart contracts on Flare.

The FDC verifies that actions such as token transfers have occurred on another chain.

Olympics Prediction Market

Flare Olympics Prediction is a prediction market using FDC to settle predictions about sporting events.

It demonstrates how external API data can be securely transmitted on-chain.

Why FDC?

Secure

Enshrined into the Flare blockchain, FDC inherits the economic security of the entire network.

Reliable

FDC verifies data from other blockchains and the internet enabling its secure use on Flare.

Decentralized

FDC is supported by around 100 independent data providers making it resistant to manipulation.
